Our process
A building project moves through stages. Names differ from country to country, but the sequence is much the same. This is how we work through them, and what we ask of you at each.
1. Brief and feasibility
We do: study the site, the users and the budget; test what the site can hold. We ask of you: the brief as you know it, access to the site and your priorities.
2. Concept design
We do: explore options for layout, massing and character and test them against the brief. We ask of you: to choose a direction.
3. Developed design
We do: resolve the chosen concept with structure, services and façade; fix areas, materials and cost. We ask of you: timely comments and decisions.
4. Approvals
We do: prepare the drawings and reports for planning, building, fire and utility authorities through locally licensed professionals. We ask of you: authority to submit and any ownership documents.
5. Technical design and tender
We do: prepare detailed, coordinated and checked drawings, specifications and schedules, and support the tender. We ask of you: to confirm the final scope and budget.
6. Construction
We do: answer queries, review samples and, where appointed, visit the site and report, so that the work is faithful to the design. We ask of you: prompt decisions and access to the site.
7. Handover and use
We do: support completion, inspection and handover, and where appointed review the building in use. We ask of you: feedback, so that we can learn from the building.
