A members' club on the water
Marina Sports Club is a members' sports club on the marina, with tennis and padel courts, a lounge and a spa. It is for members and guests: tennis and padel courts, a lounge and restaurant, an indoor pool and spa, and terraces over the boats. The marina is the setting, and the design keeps it in view from every room.
A low, two-storey clubhouse
A low, two-storey clubhouse of warm limestone, bronze and glass sits above the courts. A deep timber-lined roof shades the terraces. In the aerial picture the clubhouse is the calm centre of a composition of coloured courts, with the marina and the city beyond.
Courts of green and blue
The courts are the colour of the scheme. A green tennis court and blue padel courts lie beside the clubhouse, and a path between planted edges leads from the terraces to the courts. Olive trees and date palms soften the edges.
A lounge and a pool
Inside, the main lounge looks over the marina through a long glazed wall, with deep seating under a timber ceiling. An indoor pool and spa are lined with warm stone and timber. The materials of the exterior are continued inside, so that the club feels like a single place.
Stone that weathers well by the sea, shaded outdoor rooms, and courts that can change use over time.
Terraces over the boats
Terraces beside the marina are shaded by the deep roof and planted with palms. At sunset the clubhouse glows and its terrace fills with people. The shaded outdoor rooms are as much a part of the club as the indoor ones.
